September 23-27: Museum Closed The Museum will be closed to the public from Tuesday, September 23 to Saturday, September 27. We are moving exhibits and displays around and making space for two new vehicles that are being added to the automobile collection. We apologize for this inconvenience. The Museum will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, September 30.
September 30: Traveling Exhibit The Great War: From Ration Lines To the Front Lines! This traveling exhibit by the Indiana Historical Society explores World War I and expands on how the war started, when America entered the war, and how Hoosiers participated in the war effort. This exhibit will be on display until November 14.
October 1: Advertising Exhibit! Before the ads we all see on TV, how were people advertising their businesses in La Porte County? There were certainly familiar methods: radio, print, etc. but, many businesses got creative. Come see some great historic advertisements of the past!
October 4: Greenwood Cemetery Tour! Join Museum staff on Saturday, October 4, 2025, for a walking tour at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City! Tours will disembark at 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00 at Greenwood Cemetery located at 153 Tilden Street in Michigan City. Tickets cost $5.00 per person. Current Society Members of the La Porte County Historical Society may take the tour free of charge. Tickets can be bought on our website. A limited amount of tickets are available so purchase your ticket before they are sold out!
October 21: Historical Society Meeting! Paul Vicari, a soil conservationist with the La Porte County Soil and Water, will give a program about the new savanna conservation project at the Museum. The program will start at 7:00pm at the Museum. All are welcome to attend this free event. Refreshments will be provided.
October 25: Museum Trick or Treat! See the time traveling ghosts at the Museum for a trick or treat from 2:00 to 4:00pm. This is a free event for children of all ages.
