Welcome to the site of the La Porte County Historical Society Museum! We hope you enjoy your tour and will consider attending in person when you can! La Porte County is rich in history and the wonderful museum reflects that. The La Porte County Historical Society Museum hosts many events and exhibits each year; from re-enacting the Civil War to filling an acre of land with old cars, permanent exhibits to special current exhibits, there is something for everyone!

The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. Masks over the nose and mouth are required for adults and children. All visitors are asked to practice social distancing while in the Museum. Reservations must be made in advance to use the Fern Eddy Schultz Research Library. Please call 219-324-6767 for reservations.
2021 Calendars Now Available!
The 2021 La Porte County Historical Society Calendar is now available for purchase at the Museum for a reduced price of $5.00 each.
This year’s 2021 Calendar theme is “The Museum as Interpreted by Land of Lakes Art Alliance.” Land of Lakes Art Alliance artists have interpreted different items in the Museum. Each page contains the artwork, information about the artifact, and other interesting historical tidbits! The exceptional cover is a painting of The Kesling Building by artist Peggy Michaels.
