America A-Z Exhibit! 2026 marks the Semi-Quincentennial, or the 250th Anniversary, of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. With over 100 artifacts, this exhibit tells stories of the history of the nation, with a La Porte County twist. This exhibit will be on display for all of 2026.

Now – October 2: Traveling Exhibit ‘Faces of the Civil War’! This traveling exhibit from the Indiana Historical Society brings to life the stories of many Hoosiers whose lives were touched, and in some cases taken, by the Civil War.
October 3: Patton Cemetery Tour! Join Museum staff on Saturday, October 3, 2026, for another walking tour at
Patton Cemetery in La Porte! Tours will disembark at 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00 at
Patton Cemetery. Tickets cost $5.00 per person. Tickets can be bought on the Museum’s website. A limited amount of tickets are available so purchase your ticket before they are sold out! Current Society Members of the La Porte County Historical Society may take the tour free of charge. Email Savannah Jackson at

October 17: Children’s Storytime & Activity! Families are invited to join us at the Museum for a story and an activity at 10:30am! This is a FREE event and all ages are welcome! For October, children are learning about Fred Mennen, the inventor of Jiffy Pop Popcorn!
October 20: 2026 Historian of the Year Awards! Join us at the Museum at 7:00pm to celebrate local historians from the past and present who have helped to preserve the history of La Porte County.
October 24: Museum Trick or Treat! Visit the Museum from 2-4pm to get a treat and hopefully not a trick from the time traveling ghosts! Free event and all welcome!
