In this rare early photograph, the Zell house is illustrated.  It stood on the site of the present La Porte

Herald-Argus newspaper building, at the northwest corner of State Street and Monroe.  To the left of the

house can be seen the tower of the old Parson Horological Institute building at the corner of Michigan and Washington.
