Welcome to the site of the La Porte County Historical Society Museum! We hope you enjoy your tour and will consider attending in person when you can! La Porte County is rich in history and the wonderful museum reflects that. The La Porte County Historical Society Museum hosts many events and exhibits each year; from re-enacting the Civil War to filling an acre of land with old cars, permanent exhibits to special current exhibits, there is something for everyone!

2nd Brown Bag Lunch

The second in a series of Brown Bag Lunches will be held at the La Porte County Historical Society Museum on Wednesday, May 9th starting at noon. The program will be presented by Historical Society President, Bruce Johnson. His topic will be “Hoosiers in the Movies” which is a program with photos sharing the fascinating facts about the lives and careers of the most famous movie stars from our own state of Indiana. Some of those featured are James Dean, Steve McQueen, Carole Lombard, and Red Skelton as well as Michigan City native Anne Baxter, and many surprises! 

   The program is free! Bring your lunch and enjoy yourselves while on your lunch hour. If you wish to stay and visit the rest of the museum, regular admission will apply.
